Freddy Peralta is done in New York.
The Mets, who are several games out of playoff contention in both the National League East Division and the Wild Card race, are opting for a selloff. Freddy Peralta, who previously starred for the Milwaukee Brewers, is among those being sold off.
Peralta, 5-9 on the season, has a rough ERA on the year, at 4.99. However, he had a great 2025 season. Peralta went 17-6 on the year in 2025, with a 2.70 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP. He was one of the best pitchers in baseball.
The Mets, though, failed to live up to preseason expectations. New York has decided to move on from Peralta on Sunday.
"The Rays are acquiring starting pitcher Freddy Peralta in a trade with the New York Mets, league sources tell The Athletic," Will Sammon reported on Sunday morning.

"I’ll never know peace because this man is going to become an ace on my division rivals’ team," one fan added.
The 2026 MLB Trade Deadline is set for Monday night at 6 p.m. E.T. We could be seeing a lot more movement before then.
