The youth movement will continue for the New York Mets, as the club is calling up yet another top outfield prospect to join impressive rookies Carson Benge and A.J. Ewing in the big leagues.

The club is promoting 23-year-old Nick Morabito from Triple-A Syracuse as first reported by Will Sammon of The Athletic. Through 46 games with the Syracuse Mets this year, Morabito is slashing .253/.364/.390 with four home runs, 17 RBI, and 14 stolen bases. He will join the team in Washington, D.C. where he attended high school for the remainder of the series against the Nationals.

Morabito will replace outfielder Austin Slater, who was designated for assignment on Tuesday morning after just nine appearances with the Mets. After a brutal start to the season with injuries and performance, the decision to go in a younger direction has started to pay off for New York.

Benge, who struggled to start the year after making the Opening Day roster, is batting .350 in the month of May and has two walk-off hits in the last week. Ewing, who was called up just a week ago, has been the perfect spark plug, holding a .500 on-base percentage and helping the Mets to a 6-1 record since his arrival.

Morabito is ranked by MLB Pipeline as the Mets No. 11 overall prospect and was already on the 40-man roster after a strong Arizona Fall League season forced the club to protect him from the Rule 5 draft. With tremendous speed and the ability to play all over the outfield, New York will have plenty of opportunities to get him involved.

A right-handed hitter, Morabito should see work against left-handed pitchers early on. But as evidenced by Carlos Mendoza's handling of Ewing's playing time, Morabito could earn more regular playing time if he proves it on the field.

Morabito holds a career .287 batting average in the minor leagues and racked up 144 stolen bases, including 59 in 2024 and 49 in 2025. If nothing else, his ability to create chaos on the basepaths will be a huge asset for the Mets to have in their back pocket.

This news comes just one day after Mendoza announced their plans to debut left-handed pitching prospect Zach Thornton for Wednesday's game. Including Nolan McLean, the Mets roster will now feature five of their top prospects heading into the season.
