Bo Bichette has been one of the New York Mets’ most reliable players this season, staying healthy while providing consistent production in the middle of the lineup. The third baseman has played 131 games in 2026 and is posting a .898 OPS in August.
Bichette entered Wednesday’s home game against the Milwaukee Brewers with a .265 batting average, 21 doubles, two triples, 14 home runs and 66 RBI. His durability has been particularly important for a Mets team that has dealt with several injuries throughout the season.
Unfortunately for the Mets, they were dealt a concerning blow Wednesday when Bichette was removed from the game.

The Mets confirmed that Bichette suffered a left foot contusion after fouling a ball off his foot earlier in the game. He initially remained in the contest before being replaced by Christopher Morel in the fifth inning. Bichette finished 0-for-1 with a walk.
As of this writing, the severity of the contusion and whether Bichette will miss additional time remain unclear. The Mets are expected to provide more information after evaluating him following the game.
If Bichette does need time away, New York could turn to Brett Baty or Gabriel Arias at third base for Thursday’s finale against Milwaukee. Christopher Morel also has experience at the position and replaced Bichette Wednesday.
The Mets will hope the latest setback is minor, particularly with Bichette having already dealt with right ankle and leg soreness earlier this season before returning to become a fixture in the lineup.
New York entered Wednesday at 60-72, sitting 10.5 games behind the final National League wild card spot, despite winning seven of its previous 10 games. Bichette’s status will be something to watch as they navigate the final stretch of the season.
