The New York Mets are making another change to their bullpen, recalling Tobias Myers from Triple-A Syracuse and optioning Jefry Yan ahead of Sunday’s matchup with the San Francisco Giants.
The move gives New York another multi-inning option as the club continues evaluating its pitching depth during the final weeks of the season.
Yan’s time with the Mets comes to an end after the left-hander struggled with his command in recent appearances. He allowed a two-run homer to Osleivis Basabe during Saturday’s 9-5 loss to the Giants.
The Mets announced the roster move Sunday morning through their official X account.
Yan showed plenty of strikeout potential during his brief major league stint, recording 17 strikeouts in 12.2 innings across 13 appearances. However, he also issued 11 walks and finished with a 5.68 ERA.
Myers now gets another opportunity after spending time at Syracuse following his previous struggles in New York.
The right-hander opened the season strongly, posting a 2.05 ERA over his first 10 appearances before his performance deteriorated. He was eventually optioned on July 12 with a 6.26 ERA and 1.39 WHIP across 46 innings.
His work in the minors has provided a more encouraging recent sample.
Myers posted a 2.57 ERA over his final seven appearances at Syracuse and finished his last six outings with a 1.23 ERA.

The Mets entered Sunday at 64-78 and well outside the National League playoff picture, making the final stretch an opportunity to evaluate players who could contribute beyond this season.
Myers’ ability to cover multiple innings could prove particularly useful for a bullpen that has lost veteran depth during the season.
For Yan, the option provides an opportunity to continue developing his command away from the major league spotlight.
For Myers, the return represents a chance to show that his recent success in Syracuse can translate back to New York.
