Mercedes Moné is still dealing with the effects of a broken nose, but the AEW Women’s World Champion has made it clear that the injury will not stop her from competing. Speaking at the WrestleDream post-show media scrum, “The CEO” revealed that she underwent surgery during AEW’s recent hiatus and is continuing to wrestle despite her nose remaining broken.

Moné shared the update after successfully defending her championship against Thekla at WrestleDream. She also looked back on her title victory over Willow Nightingale at All In: London, describing the match as one of the most significant moments of her career.

The champion explained that the injury has not changed her determination to keep defending her title.

Here is what the former WWE star said:

“It was definitely one of the hardest-fought battles I’ve ever had and one of my greatest matches and greatest moments in my whole career. I love, love that moment at Wembley. Just a full circle moment for me as well. But yeah, I’m one month and a half post-surgery on my nose. It’s still very much broken, and I’m pushing through every single week but I love what I do, I love defending my Women’s Championship, and I’m here to be the best, and just having a broken nose, it’s not gonna faze me; it’s not gonna stop me, it’s not gonna stop me from defending this, and this is my destiny so I’m ready to give everything that I have for it.”

The 34-year-old star suffered the injury during her match against Willow Nightingale at All In on August 30, where she captured the AEW Women’s World Championship at Wembley Stadium. Although she finished the match and won the title, the broken nose kept her out of action for the September 26 All Out pay-per-view.

She returned to the ring on the September 30 episode of Dynamite, which was dedicated to the late PAC. She then successfully defended her AEW World Title against Queen Aminata on October 6 at Grand Slam France in Paris, before defeating Thekla at WrestleDream on October 17.

Despite the ongoing injury, Mercedes Moné’s comments show that she intends to keep competing while working through her recovery. With another successful title defense behind her, the champion remains focused on her reign rather than allowing the injury to dictate what comes next.
