Jessica Pegula will meet Leylah Fernandez in the third round of the US Open today, with both players advancing to this stage without dropping a single set.
The two have clashed four times previously, all on hard courts, with Pegula leading their head-to-head record 3-1.
In their most recent meeting, world No. 3 Pegula cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Fernandez at the Miami Open in March.

Jessica’s father, Terry, is a self-made American businessman with an estimated net worth of more than $9 billion. The 75-year-old built his fortune in the natural gas industry before expanding into the sports and entertainment world.
He purchased the NFL’s Buffalo Bills in 2014 for $1.4 billion and also owns the Buffalo Sabres of the NHL.

All About Jessica Pegula’s Mother, Kim Pegula and Her Health Struggle
Along with playing a major role in Jessica’s life, Kim Pegula has a unique and inspiring story of her own.
As a child, she was adopted from South Korea and raised in Fairport, New York, by an American couple.Kim met Terry after graduating from college while interviewing for a position at a local restaurant in New York. She later went on to work for his company, East Resources.
The couple married in 1993 and went on to have three children: Jessica, Kelly and Matthew.
In 2018, Kim made sports history by becoming the first woman to serve as president of both an NFL and NHL team simultaneously.
