Coco Gauff’s parents are Candi and Corey Gauff, both former collegiate athletes who played important roles in shaping their daughter’s tennis career.
Corey Gauff played college basketball at Georgia State University and later worked as a healthcare executive before becoming Coco’s head coach during her early development.
Her mother, Candi Gauff, was a star heptathlete and gymnast at Florida State University and played an important role in Coco’s homeschooling during her training years.

The couple eventually moved their family from Atlanta to Delray Beach, Florida, with Corey taking over Coco’s technical training while Candi focused on her education and life away from tennis. Coco also has two younger brothers, Codey and Cameron.
Coco Gauff on Parents’ Sacrifice
In an interview with Forbes, Coco opened up about the sacrifices her parents made for her career and how her perspective on those sacrifices has changed as she has grown older.
“At the time, I don’t think I grasped how, because you know, you don’t know any concept of money or anything. And yeah, like for me, when we moved from Georgia, we lived with my grandparents like, in their house,” the 22-year-old said.
“And obviously as a kid, you’re not thinking, ‘Oh, it’s to save money or whatever.’ I’m just like, ‘Oh, I get to go live in Florida, live with my grandparents, and that’s so fun to be around my cousins and everything.’ But now I’m looking back like, yeah, that’s crazy. Like we went from a two-income household to a no-income household.”
