Max Verstappen celebrated a special family milestone over the Formula 1 summer break as Verstappen Racing claimed its first overall victory in the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup at Magny-Cours.
The victory was even more significant because Jos Verstappen, the father of the winner, was present and has been instrumental in the development of the team's GT racing program. The win was a major milestone in the Verstappen legacy, as the family continued to build their motorsport history.
Verstappen Racing Delivers Historic GT3 Breakthrough
Jules Gounon and Dani Juncadella's Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo of Verstappen Racing took pole to a big win at the French circuit.
Gounon built up a lead before passing to Juncadella at the required pit stop. Juncadella dominated the restart and finished first to give Verstappen Racing its first overall GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup win. It was also the team's first overall victory since entering the Pro class with Mercedes-AMG equipment for the 2026 season.

Watching from afar during Formula 1's summer break, Max Verstappen quickly shared his delight.
The four-time Formula 1 champion said, "So proud. Well done everyone."
Max and Jos Celebrate Family Milestone
Jos congratulated the whole organisation on the breakthrough win. He said, "Well done guys."
The outcome was a testament to the strides made by Verstappen Racing in a remarkably short period of time for Max. It has grown from a personal motorsport venture into one of the most competitive teams in GT racing, with factory-backed drivers and top-level engineering expertise.
The Formula 1 world champion has made it clear that he would like to see Verstappen Racing become a regular feature in international motorsport, and Magny-Cours was the first step towards making that happen.
Although Max wasn't behind the wheel himself, the victory carried the same emotional significance. It was a memorable occasion for the Verstappen family, as Max shared the moment with his father.
