Kimi Antonelli delivered another statement performance in Formula 1 on Saturday, storming to pole position for the Monaco Grand Prix and leaving some of the sport's biggest names with work to do on race day.
The Mercedes youngster produced a sensational lap around the streets of Monte Carlo to secure the top spot on the grid, edging out Max Verstappen, who will line up alongside him on the front row. Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton completed the top three, putting himself firmly in the fight for victory heading into Sunday's race.
Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton Look To Come Out Strong at Monaco GP
After the race, the three drivers gave their thoughts on their performance during Monaco GP qualifying. Kimi Antonelli said that he is relishing the chance to take home his fifth consecutive Grand Prix win this year in Monaco. The Italian driver will be at an added advantage going into the race on Sunday after edging the pole position from Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton.
Max Verstappen is extremely positive about the front row start at the Monaco GP. The four-time Formula One champ is also alarmed by the presence of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc just behind him in the streets of Monaco.

Hamilton appeared to be gutted despite being third on the grid at the Monaco GP. The British driver confessed that this year the competition is "extremely tight" going into 2025.
Ferrari's Charles Leclerc qualified fourth in front of Racing Bulls standout Isack Hadjar, while George Russell placed sixth in the second Mercedes. Championship contenders Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris could only manage seventh and eighth, respectively, leaving McLaren with a difficult task on race day.
With overtaking notoriously difficult around Monaco, Antonelli's pole position could prove decisive. However, with Verstappen and Hamilton directly behind him, the young Mercedes driver faces one of the biggest tests of his Formula 1 career as he attempts to convert a stunning qualifying performance into a landmark victory.
