WWE Superstar Matt Cardona has confirmed that he suffered a torn triceps during a match on Friday night, putting his WWE run on hold as he deals with the injury. Cardona shared the news on August 23 and posted a photo showing his heavily swollen arm.

Rather than dwell on the setback, “The Indy God” used the update to make it clear that he is not planning to let the injury break his momentum. He even revealed that he still went to the gym after suffering the tear, although he kept his workout limited to his legs.

“I wish my arm was this jacked. Unfortunately, it’s just swollen because I tore my tricep in a match on Friday night. (I still went to the gym today and did legs) I’ll keep you updated. I’M NOT FINISHED.”

Cardona wrestled Kit Wilson in a match taped for WWE Main Event on Friday, August 21, ahead of SmackDown at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. That appears to be the match he was referring to when announcing the injury.

The former Zack Ryder had also wrestled Gunther in an impromptu match on the August 14 episode of Friday Night Show. Cardona stepped in to defend his wife, Chelsea Green, after “The Ring General” confronted her, leading to the match.

Cardona took several powerbombs during the bout before submitting. He was also checked by WWE medical personnel afterward, but his latest update indicates that the tricep tear occurred during the later match with Wilson rather than his encounter with Gunther.

Cardona has not provided details about the severity of the tear, whether surgery will be necessary or how long he expects to be away from WWE. For now, there is no confirmed timetable for his return.

The injury comes at an unfortunate time for Cardona, who returned to WWE as a full-time SmackDown star earlier this year. He had been building momentum on the blue brand, making his latest setback particularly frustrating.

His wife, Chelsea Green, is also dealing with an injury after suffering a broken orbital bone following her Interim Women’s Championship victory at SummerSlam 2026.

With both Cardona and Green sidelined by injuries, their respective WWE futures remain worth watching.
