The Miami Hurricanes are preparing for the biggest moment in their program history over the last 20 years. Monday’s title game is approaching, and conversations around the program’s future have already started to surface.

With uncertainty surrounding the quarterback position beyond this season, the Hurricanes are being linked to a productive passer who has already proven he can handle a heavy workload.

Head coach Mario Cristobal has made it clear throughout his tenure that quarterback play drives everything Miami wants to be offensively. Now, with Carson Beck’s time in Coral Gables potentially nearing its end, Miami appears to be evaluating options that would allow the offense to maintain momentum rather than reset.

One name drawing attention is a quarterback coming off a 3,900-yard season who has shown consistency, durability, and big game production across multiple programs. Pete Nakos of On3 Sports talked about the connection.

A Quarterback With Proven Production

Mensah’s resume immediately stands out. During his lone season at Duke Blue Devils, he completed 334 of 500 passes for 3,973 yards with 34 touchdowns and just six interceptions. That season included a bowl win over the Arizona State Sun Devils in the Tony the Tiger Bowl, where he threw four touchdown passes in a 42-39 victory.

His leadership has helped guide the Blue Devils through a challenging schedule, including an ACC title win over the Virginia Cavaliers in a 27-20 victory that followed a rare five-team tiebreaker scenario for second place in the conference. Duke finished the season 9-5, staying competitive in nearly every outing.

He followed that up with a strong year at Tulane Green Wave, completing 189 of 287 passes for 2,723 yards, 22 touchdowns, and six interceptions. Across both stops, his efficiency and decision-making remained consistent, traits that typically translate well when stepping into a high-pressure environment like Miami.

How He Fits What Miami Wants To Do

Miami’s offense under Cristobal values balance, but it also relies on a quarterback who can push the ball downfield and protect possessions. Mensah’s interception totals over two seasons suggest he understands when to take chances and when to live for the next play.

That profile becomes even more attractive as Miami looks ahead to life after Beck. The Hurricanes are currently focused on the present, but roster planning rarely stops, especially at the most important position on the field.

Pete Thamel also mentioned Miami as the early favorite to land the services of Mensah.

Carson Beck’s Miami Chapter

Carson Beck has been solid during his lone season at Miami after transferring in from the Georgia Bulldogs. The senior quarterback threw for 3,581 yards with 29 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, providing stability and experience in his fifth year of college football. Beck previously spent four seasons at Georgia, starting two of them, before making the move to Miami.

A Decision That Shapes Miami’s Future

With Miami set to compete for a championship on Monday, the immediate focus remains on finishing the job. Still, the possibility of adding a quarterback with nearly 4,000 passing yards on his resume signals that Cristobal and his staff are thinking long term.

Whether Mensah ultimately becomes the next Hurricanes quarterback remains to be seen, but the link itself speaks volumes. Miami is no longer searching for short-term fixes. The program is looking for continuity, production, and a player capable of keeping expectations high in a conference that grows more demanding every year.
