Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes exceeded expectations in 2025. After securing the No. 10 seed in the College Football Playoff, Miami advanced to the national championship, eventually losing to the Indiana Hoosiers. However, going 13-3 and nearly winning it all made for an impressive year.
Cristobal and his staff are now looking to build on that success. The Hurricanes' 2027 recruiting class already ranks first in the ACC and 10th in the nation with four commitments. Among that group is wide receiver Ah'Mari Stevens. He's been committed to Miami for over a year, pledging on Jan. 13, 2025.

In his junior season at Chaminade-Madonna High School, Stevens appeared in nine games, racking up 23 receptions for 312 yards and one touchdown.
At 5-foot-10.5 and 165 pounds, he's a four-star recruit, the No. 23 wide receiver and the No. 192 player in the nation, per Rivals Industry Rankings. Miami landed him over several prominent programs such as the Texas A&M Aggies, Penn State Nittany Lions and Ole Miss Rebels.
However, teams have yet to give up on their pursuit of the wide receiver. Justin Wells of Inside Texas has reported that Stevens has locked in an official visit with the Texas Longhorns for June 19-21.
"Ah’Mari Stevens had the Horns in [his] top schools list recently," Wells wrote. "Now the 2027 Miami commit will hit Texas for an official visit."
This decision makes it clear that there is mutual interest between Texas and Stevens. While still locked in with Miami, the team is no stranger to recruits changing their minds. In the 2026 cycle, the Hurricanes lost three players after flipping to other programs. If not careful, Stevens could be the first of the 2027 recruiting class.
