The Seattle Mariners have outrighted left-handed pitcher Jhonathan Díaz to Triple-A Tacoma after he cleared waivers, finalizing a roster move ahead of their series opener against the Philadelphia Phillies.
The move comes after Seattle promoted pitching prospect Kade Anderson, who made his MLB debut against the Chicago Cubs. Díaz, meanwhile, remains with the organization after clearing waivers and accepting the outright assignment.
The official announcement came from the Mariners’ PR account on X, providing confirmation of the roster adjustment ahead of Monday’s matchup.

Anderson, a 22-year-old left-hander, reached the majors after posting a 1.06 ERA across 93.1 innings at Double-A Arkansas. He also recorded a 40.5% strikeout rate before earning his promotion, giving Seattle another young arm to evaluate down the stretch.
Díaz appeared in one game for Seattle this season, allowing one earned run and one home run over 1.1 innings. His outright assignment gives the Mariners additional pitching depth at Tacoma while keeping him within the organization.
The roster adjustment comes as Seattle prepares to face a Philadelphia Phillies club riding a nine-game winning streak. The Mariners enter the series at 62-69 and remain three games behind the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers in the AL West.
The Phillies, meanwhile, are 73-58 and have moved within three games of the Atlanta Braves in the NL East. With both clubs entering the series with postseason pressure, Seattle will hope its latest pitching adjustment helps stabilize its staff.
