The Seattle Mariners are looking for answers from within as the MLB trade deadline approaches, and starting pitcher Bryan Woo made that clear following the club's disappointing 2-5 road trip. Rather than looking for outside reinforcements, Woo said the current roster must take responsibility for turning the season around.
Seattle enters the weekend at 53-57, sitting third in the American League West and 2.5 games behind the first-place Texas Rangers despite owning one of baseball's strongest pitching staffs.
Woo addressed the clubhouse's mindset after the road trip. Speaking to reporters, the right-hander stressed that the responsibility for improving the club's performance rests with the players already in the clubhouse rather than the front office. As shared by Daniel Kramer of MLB.com on X, Woo said, "The front office and coaches and everybody has put enough into the product on the field. It's time for us to do something about it."
Seattle's front office has already attempted to strengthen the roster, adding players such as Isaac Paredes and Randy Arozarena over the past year. Despite those moves, the Mariners continue to struggle offensively, particularly away from home, wasting strong performances from one of the American League's top rotations.
Woo has continued to shoulder a significant workload for Seattle despite the club's recent struggles. The right-hander enters the weekend with a 7-8 record, a 4.56 ERA, 122 strikeouts and a 1.15 WHIP in 2026, making him one of the veteran voices in a clubhouse searching for consistency as the trade deadline approaches.

The Mariners will try to respond immediately as they begin a crucial series against the Los Angeles Angels with the trade deadline only days away. Whether another move comes or not, Woo believes the players already on the roster must deliver.
Seattle is 31-23 at T-Mobile Park but just 22-34 on the road this season, a split the club must improve if it hopes to climb back into the American League playoff race.
