The Toronto Maple Leafs made an emergency roster move on Monday following the concerning pregame incident involving goaltender Anthony Stolarz.
Stolarz was removed from Saturday’s game against the Ottawa Senators before it even started.
During warmups, the Leafs' netminder took a shot to the throat from teammate William Nylander and was taken to the hospital for precautionary imaging. Stolarz was scheduled to start in the net on the latest Battle of Ontario, but he couldn't make it there.
The Leafs announced on Monday morning that fellow goalie Dennis Hildeby has been recalled from the Toronto Marlies on an emergency basis, giving Toronto an additional option in net ahead of its next game.

“G Dennis Hildeby has been recalled from the Toronto Marlies (AHL) on an emergency basis,” the Maple Leafs PR account posted on X.
Hildeby, 24, has already seen NHL action this season while filling in during previous injuries. In 19 appearances, Hildeby has posted a .910 save percentage and a 2.90 goals-against average, putting together a 5-6-4 record with a shutout in those games.
Stolarz has been released from the hospital, and he has already rejoined the Leafs, skating with the rest of the team on Monday while wearing a neck guard, as captured by TSN's Mark Masters.
Toronto’s situation in net has been unsettled throughout the season, with Stolarz missing extended time earlier due to injuries and some inconsistencies while in net.
Stolarz has an 8-9-3 record this season with a .894 save percentage and 3.34 goals-against on average in 22 games. The SV% figure is his career-worst average since entering the league in the 2016-17 season.
The Maple Leafs will face the Boston Bruins on Monday, with puck drop set for 7 p.m. ET.
