Iran’s build-up to their final group match has taken a slightly better turn, even if the wider situation remains complicated.
After being forced into a very tight travel routine earlier in the tournament, the squad will now get an extra day in the United States before facing Egypt in Seattle. For a team operating out of Mexico during the World Cup, that is a meaningful change. The previous setup left Iran with very little time between travel, recovery and match preparation, which became a major source of frustration inside the camp.
The issue became harder to ignore after the first two games. Iran’s staff felt the players were being asked to handle an unusual schedule while other teams had a more normal tournament rhythm. The trip to Seattle is also much longer than the earlier journeys to the Los Angeles area, so the old arrangement would have made preparation even more difficult.
U.S. officials have now made a small adjustment, though not a full one. Iran can arrive earlier for this match, but they are still expected to leave after it is over. From the American side, the message is that the security framework has not changed. The only difference is the timing.
For Iran, that extra time could matter. It gives the players a better chance to train properly, recover from the previous match and avoid going into a decisive game feeling rushed. Head coach Amir Ghalenoei has been clear that his team wanted equal conditions rather than special treatment, and this decision at least moves things closer in that direction.

Still, this has never been only about soccer logistics. The political tension around Iran has followed the team throughout the tournament. Some members of the delegation have reportedly been unable to enter the U.S., and comments from American officials have added another layer of controversy.
The players have mostly tried to keep their public focus on the pitch, but they have also made quiet gestures calling for peace and remembering victims back home.
Now the attention turns to Egypt. Iran finally have more time to prepare, but the pressure of the match itself has not changed.
