EA Sports has revealed the next Madden 27 title update, scheduled to arrive September 30, with the latest patch targeting several issues across Gameplay and Franchise Mode.
The update includes changes to wide receiver catches, blocking and the game clock, while Franchise players are getting adjustments to CPU roster management and the Dynamic Salary Cap system. EA also confirmed that additional Franchise fixes are already being worked on for future updates.
Here’s a breakdown of what’s changing in the latest Madden 27 update.

Madden 27 Gameplay Changes
The gameplay portion of the patch is relatively small, but several changes could be noticeable during games.
Key changes include:
- Addressed a Field Goal Blocking issue involving looping defenders.
- Tuned Wide Receiver Catch Success Rates for improved consistency on throws out of sacks.
- Improved Run Action Block Targeting to detect defensive threats more effectively.
- Fixed an issue where the game clock could run following a delay of game with a stopped clock.
On the presentation side, EA is also adding Captain Patches to Washington Commanders uniforms.
Franchise Mode Gets Salary Cap and CPU Changes
Franchise Mode receives some of the more significant changes. EA says the update addresses how the salary cap changes over the life of a Franchise and how CPU teams handle signings and trades.
The Dynamic Salary Cap has been adjusted, while CPU teams will now consider a player’s fair market value when checking available cap space. Spending limits will also vary based on a team’s contention phase and apply to in-season free-agent pickups.
CPU teams should also no longer make trades that create cap penalties above a set percentage of the league salary cap.
These changes could become particularly noticeable in longer Franchise saves, where CPU cap management can influence free agency, trades and overall roster quality several seasons into a league.
Madden 27 Update Focuses on Franchise and Gameplay
The September 30 update puts a notable focus on Franchise Mode, particularly how CPU-controlled teams manage contracts, available cap space and trades. Combined with the gameplay adjustments to blocking, catches and the game clock, the patch addresses several areas across Madden 27 without introducing sweeping gameplay changes.
