Luis García Jr. has already experienced one of the most memorable parts of playing for the New York Yankees in October: the atmosphere at Yankee Stadium.
After helping the Yankees sweep the Boston Red Sox in the American League Wild Card Series, the infielder was asked about the fans and the energy they brought to the Bronx.
García did not need a long explanation. He had just one word to describe the experience, and it summed up the intensity of his first postseason appearance with the Yankees.
“You feel the crowd. You feel the fans. You feel everything right now,” García said in the clubhouse interview shared by the Yankees on October 1. “This experience for me, it’s unbelievable. I only have one word: Unbelievable.”
The 26-year-old arrived in New York during the season and quickly became part of the team’s infield picture. With Aaron Judge unavailable for the Wild Card Series because of a calf injury, the Yankees needed contributions from across the lineup.
García stepped into the postseason spotlight and delivered a strong performance in the series-clinching win. He collected three hits, including a home run, as New York finished off Boston with a 9-2 victory.

The sweep sent New York into the American League Division Series, where a new challenge awaits against the Tampa Bay Rays. The Yankees will open the best-of-five series on the road, taking García away from the crowd that made such a strong first impression.
The Bronx gave him an unforgettable introduction to October baseball. Now, García will look to make an impact in a different environment as the Yankees continue their postseason run.
