The LSU Tigers lost out on EDGE Anthony Sweeney, who committed to the Texas Tech Red Raiders on April 13. At 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds, he is a five-star recruit, the No. 3 EDGE and the No. 21 player in the nation, according to Rivals Industry Rankings.
The Baltimore, Maryland native chose Texas Tech over LSU, the South Carolina Gamecocks, Alabama Crimson Tide, Tennessee Volunteers, Ohio State Buckeyes and Penn State Nittany Lions.
However, not every team is ready to give up. When speaking to Rivals' Chad Simmons, the pass rusher revealed that the Tigers are trying to get him on campus for an official visit. He noted a personal connection he shares with LSU defensive line coach Sterling Lucas.

While admitting he has not decided if he will make it to Baton Rouge, Sweeney told Simmons that an official visit likely wouldn't lead to a flip anyway.
“I may take other official visits, but that has not been decided yet," he said. "It is still something I am thinking about. If I take visits or not, it will be extremely tough for any school to change my mind. Personally, I don’t think it’s possible.”
Seemingly closing the door on any flip rumors, Sweeney is still going to garner a lot of attention. Along with high ratings, he accumulated 34 tackles, five tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks last season for Our Lady of Good Counsel.
LSU's persistence doesn't come as a surprise, though, as Lane Kiffin and his staff attempt to bolster their 2027 recruiting class. As of now, they've landed five commitments, ranking fourth in the SEC and 10th in the nation.
With an official visit to Lubbock on June 5, the Red Raiders have yet another opportunity to separate themselves from the Tigers.
