Three years ago Angel Reese led the LSU women’s basketball team to its first NCAA title. Now she’s thriving in the WNBA as the league’s premier rebounder and a record-setting one at that.
During the Atlanta Dream’s 78-71 win over the Los Angeles Sparks, Reese set a WNBA record with 26 rebounds in a single game. That mark combined with the 432 rebounds that she already had on the season gave her 458 rebounds on the year, which also set a WNBA record for the most rebounds in a season.
On Tuesday, the LSU women’s basketball account on X congratulated their prized alum for her achievement.
“BOARD CERTIFIED ‼️😤 Angel Reese now holds the WNBA records for most rebounds in a single game (26) and a single season (458),” the team wrote.
LSU fans were certainly happy to give Reese her due as well:
“Just hang her jersey in the rafters already,” one user declared.
“Congrats AR love this for you. Well deserved 👏 Hard work showing,” wrote another.
“Well deserved!” wrote a third.

Reese and the Dream
After languishing with the Chicago Sky for two seasons, Reese’s arrival in Atlanta has put her in a position to finally contend for real WNBA hardware. The Dream have already clinched the playoffs with several games still to play and the team could finish as high as the second overall seed in the WNBA playoffs.
Last year the team had the third-best record in the WNBA but were eliminated in the very first round by the Indiana Fever.
Perhaps Reese can be the catalyst to a slightly deeper run in the postseason this time around.
