Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts made an off-field announcement on Monday, ahead of the team's series opener against the Minnesota Twins.
Betts, a four-time World Series champion and the active leader in titles, is in his seventh season with the Dodgers. The 33-year-old is batting .218 with a .280 on-base percentage, eight home runs and 19 RBIs across 43 games in an injury-interrupted season. He remains an eight-time All-Star, six-time Gold Glove winner and a 2018 MVP.
His latest headline, though, came away from the field. After co-founding Tequila Providencia with chief executive Rodd Rafieha, Betts spent much of the offseason promoting the additive-free tequila himself, signing bottles at grocery stores and retailers across Los Angeles.

Months later, and amid the 2026 season, Betts announced a new partnership through Instagram on Monday between Tequila Providencia and Gelson's Markets, a supermarket chain that operates throughout Southern California, putting the tequila on shelves throughout the region and shifting his brand from personal appearance trips to a spot at an upscale market.
“If my name is on it, you better believe it’s going to be premium, pure, and built to last,” Betts states on the brand's website.
Providencia launched its premium line in January and already reached store shelves at Costco, Total Wine and BevMo. The single-distillery tequila is made from highland blue Weber agave in Jalisco, Mexico.

With the Gelson's partnership in hand, Betts continues to build on a growing portfolio of work, including a podcast, television spots and more. He has said he plans to continue to build Providencia in earnest once his playing days end.
