Following the arrest of Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold, the NFL star made his first courtroom appearance in Florida. Unfortunately for Arnold, he may have to wait a while - potentially a very long while - to be a free man again.
At his court appearance on Thursday, Judge J. Logan Murphy ruled that Arnold will remain in custody at least until a pre-trial detention hearing to be held on Monday, June 29. Prosecutors have stated that they will ask that Arnold remain behind bars until the trial, which could be months, if not the rest of 2026.
"Judge Murphy explained that, because he has been arrested on six first-degree felonies that are categorized as 'dangerous crimes' and carry a sentence of life in prison, he will remain in jail until Monday’s hearing," ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio wrote.
The Charges
Arnold is facing life in prison on multiple counts including armed robbery, kidnapping, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and conspiracy to commit kidnapping. If convicted on all charges, he faces life in prison.
Arnold's lawyer has stated that he "is absolutely denying" all of the allegations against him.

Arnold's sports management team has accused the Florida government of using "testimony from multiple convicted felons" to shift the blame from themselves onto Arnold.
"There is no credible evidence linking Mr. Arnold to these allegations," EAG Sports and Entertainment Agency CEO Denise White said in a statement to ABC News. "Instead, the government appears to be relying on testimony from multiple convicted felons who have admitted their own involvement and may have substantial incentives to shift blame in an effort to lessen their sentences."
Arnold certainly has bigger things to worry about than his NFL future right now, but it nevertheless needs to be stated that if Arnold is held until trial, he will most likely miss the entirety of the NFL season. And even if he is allowed to leave on bond, he's probably going to have a lot of distractions for the upcoming season.
