Former Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn is slowly but surely making progress in her recovery from a catastrophic injury.
Vonn, 41, competed in this year's Winter Olympics despite suffering an ACL just two weeks prior to the event. Unfortunately, the legendary skier suffered a complex tibia fracture in the downhill event at Cortina d’Ampezzo. Her injury was so severe that she needed multiple surgeries and was "completely immobile" for an extended period of time.
"I’d say in the last month, it’s definitely gotten better, but of course there were really low moments," Vonn told PEOPLE. "It was quite a challenge, just being in the hospital alone for two and a half weeks. Being completely immobile for that extended time period was so rough."

Luckily for Vonn, she's trending in the right direction. She revealed last week that she's back in the gym working on her fitness.
On Wednesday morning, Vonn shared a photo of her targeting her legs during her latest workout. It seems she's pleased with her progress.
"I see muscles," Vonn wrote for her caption.

Will Lindsey Vonn ski again?
Despite what transpired at the 2026 Winter Games, fans shouldn't rule out Vonn returning to the slopes.
“It’s just that ski racing is something I love to do and I never got a final run. I never got to say goodbye,” Vonn said in an interview with NBC’s Craig Melvin. “I don’t know, maybe I would do one more race to say goodbye. Maybe I’ll race again. It might be fun to do one more run. We’ll see.”
Hopefully, Vonn will have a better send-off if she chooses to race again.
