Longtime ESPN sportscaster Linda Cohn appears to be in a social media feud with one of her former colleagues.
Cohn joined ESPN in 1992 and immediately established herself as an excellent "SportsCenter" anchor. In 2017, the SUNY Oswego graduate was inducted into the National Sports Media Association (NSMA) Hall of Fame.
Earlier this week, Cohn went viral for ripping an opinion piece from Damien Cox of the Toronto Star. He questioned U.S. men’s hockey star Auston Matthews' decision to visit the White House in the middle of the NHL season.
“After playing six games in 11 days in Italy and then travelling back from Europe, being rested and ready to resume NHL activity Wednesday night might have set the example a captain would want to set. The Leafs, after all, are in serious danger of missing the Stanley Cup playoffs,” Cox wrote for the Toronto Star. "Instead, the Arizona-raised pivot chose to jump on a plane for Washington, D.C. to accept an invitation with his teammates to visit Trump at the White House on Tuesday. Matthews went to a luncheon and posed for pictures with Trump, then skipped the dog-and-pony State of the Union address while the Tkachuk brothers and others allowed their Olympic triumph to be turned into a political circus."
That article from the Toronto Star didn't sit well with Cohn, who stood up for Matthews on social media.
“Be better,” Cohn said. “I hope you don’t speak for Leafs fans.”

Former ESPN anchor Keith Olbermann was apparently triggered by Cohn's remarks. He unleashed a pretty harsh rant on Thursday, calling Cohn a "politically motivated clown" among other things.
“Hate to finally break it to you @lindacohn,” Olbermann wrote on X. “I’d say “be better to you” but it’s an impossibility. You’re a self-obsessed politically motivated clown who thinks HER leanings are sacrosanct and everyone else’s must be suppressed We’ve indulged you all these years. That now ends.”
Cohn fired back at Olbermann this Friday. She said it's "really sad" to see her former colleague resort to bullying.
"Amazing @KeithOlbermann that you describe me how the world actually describes you," Cohn replied. "What happened to you? Gaslighting and bullying a former colleague? Is that really your thing now? It’s really sad and disappointing. Everyone knows you’ve been irrelevant since you left sports and decided to share your uninvited warped world views with the rest of us. You sound bitter and miserable. I hope you get the help you need."
Sports fans siding with Linda Cohn.
Although it's not really a huge surprise, Cohn has received a ton of support for standing up to Olbermann.
"Way to go Linda. You make fellow Oswego State alums proud," one fan wrote on social media.
"Thank you, Linda Cohn. You are pure class," a second fan commented.
"You go, Linda, we know what you are all about! You've been a steward for the game forever! These Olympics were about hockey! I can't think of a better representative of the game of hockey than you," another fan said.
Suffice to say, Olbermann isn't exactly a fan favorite at the moment.
