Lewis Hamilton has spoken about a tough weekend in Belgium, conceding that he made his own errors and was playing catch-up despite Ferrari's promising pace during the race.
The seven-time Formula 1 world champion admitted that he was on the back foot after finishing fourth, but also credited his team for their efforts to secure a respectable finish.
Although Hamilton missed out on the podium, his post-race comments suggested there are reasons for optimism as Formula 1 heads straight to the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Hamilton Takes Responsibility for Belgian GP Penalty
Hamilton took the blame for his poor weekend after the race, saying his own error made things difficult from the start. Additionally, Hamilton also faced two penalties at the Belgian GP.
The British legend also avoided a horrifying accident with a crew member during the pit stops.

The Ferrari driver said, “P4 at the end of the day, but overall an l unfortunate weekend for me. I'm grateful to the team for getting the car back on track. Even with all their hard work, I was definitely on the back foot after my mistake.”
Hamilton's candor is a hallmark of his career, in which he often took responsibility instead of passing the blame.
Ferrari Finding Pace Ahead of Hungarian GP
Hamilton is not giving up on Ferrari, though, and feels they're starting to get on the right track.
The Belgian Grand Prix showed some good race pace, which Hamilton thinks will be a more consistent ability once the team's upcoming developments are in place.
The British legend said on his Instagram, “Still, there are encouraging signs. We had good pace, and we have more coming to take us to the next level. Thank you all for the support. Excited to go again so soon. See you in Budapest”
The turnaround between Belgium and Hungary also means that there is not much time to dwell on disappointment. Rather, Hamilton is already working on his comeback at one of his best circuits.
