Even at the age of 41, LeBron James still has the NBA world in the palm of his hands.
On Friday afternoon, James reportedly agreed to a two-year, $8 million contract with the Philadelphia 76ers. There were rumblings about him joining the Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat, but he chose to take his talents to the City of Brotherly Love so he could compete for a championship.
“I thought I was done when the season ended. I wasn’t ready to announce it, and I knew I needed some time to really decide, but I was pretty sure I played my last game. I was honest at that last press conference when I said I needed to look at myself and decide if I still love this game. I still truly love this game, and I have more to give. The last few weeks have really been special. I’ve never been able to have no clue what to do and take real time to just think. I’ve had an incredible few months with all the people I love trying to figure it all out,” James wrote on social media.
“This is my last decision. I’m not going for money. I’m not going for family. What am I really playing for at this point? I still want to sacrifice. I still want to work. I still want to grind. I still want to compete, to win and to have a chance at the feeling of winning another championship. I believe I can help make the Philadelphia 76ers a championship team and I am so excited to energize a new fan base and start this incredible journey one last time. Thank you LA. Miami I’ll forever love and Northeast Ohio will always home!”

Immediately after James announced his decision online, sports fans compared his move to Tom Brady joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020.
"This reminds me of Brady to TB," one fan wrote on X. "Weapons around them and they believe they are the missing piece and can argue LeBron might be the best player if not second behind Maxey on the team."
"Is LeBron going to the 76ers the equivalent to Tom Brady going to the Bucs?" a second fan asked.
"LeBron to the 76ers is Tom Brady to the Buccaneers," another fan said.
LeBron would love to replicate Brady's storyline.
Prior to signing with the Buccaneers, Brady was considered the most accomplished quarterback of all time. That being said, he managed to add yet another great storyline to his legacy.
Brady had an excellent 2020 season with the Buccaneers, throwing for 4,633 yards and 40 touchdowns at the age of 43. Not only did he lead the franchise to the playoffs, he helped them win the Super Bowl in his first year.
James has also cemented his status as one of the top two players in NBA history, and yet, he's also searching for more success.
While there are no guarantees in sports, the 76ers have the talent to win it all next season. They'll surround James with a starting lineup of Jaylen Brown, VJ Edgecombe, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.
Do you think the 76ers will win it all?
