LeBron James and Lindsey Vonn are both 41 years old and the two icons continue to dedicate their body for the game. The latter, however, faced a setback after her Winter Olympics stint was cut short by a frightening accident during a race
Vonn recovered just in time for the 2026 Winter Olympics and did a few races. Unfortunately, the Games, which were supposed to be her final appearance, ended badly when she crashed out during the final round of the women's downhill event.
She had to be airlifted to receive the proper medical attention. She later on confirmed that she suffered a complex tibia fracture. She underwent a four-hour surgery which she said was successful and was part of her "baby steps."
She also revealed the timeline for full recovery.
"Now I will focus on rehab and progressing from a wheelchair to crutches in a few weeks. It will take around a year for all of the bones to heal and then I will decide if I want to take out all the metal or not, and then go back into surgery and finally fix my ACL," she said.

Vonn's Instagram account has been a source for updates on her recovery and her latest one shows her lifting weights and standing up slowly on her own from a wheelchair.
Vonn is showing her determination to get back up. She’s doing that at 41 years old, with her future in the sport still undetermined. A fellow quadragenarian is making sure it will be alright, especially for someone of her caliber.
James sent an encouragement to Vonn on her post's comment section.
"You Got This!! Small thing to a GIANT!! 💪🏾💪🏾. LFG!! 🫡🙏🏾", the Los Angeles Lakers star wrote.
James himself went through an injury ordeal this season as he missed his team's first 14 games because of a foot injury.
Vonn has been a source of inspiration throughout the Olympics despite her missing out on a podium finish. In a Feb. 14 post, she said she is not regretting her decision to participate despite the odds and that she is looking to be in the mountains again.
"The ride was worth the fall. When I close my eyes at night I don’t have regrets and the love I have for skiing remains. I am still looking forward to the moment when I can stand on the top of the mountain once more. And I will. 💪🏻❤️"
