LeBron James is catching some heat on social media this week for his behavior during the U.S. national anthem on Tuesday night.
As the national anthem played before tipoff at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday evening, the 42-year-old Philadelphia 76ers forward was caught practicing his golf swing and working on his jumpshot form.
Video of the national anthem behavior quickly went viral.
Some found it funny, while others found it disrespectful.
“LeBron doing ANYTHING to disrespect the National Anthem,” one popular X account shared.
“LeBron decided to practice his golf swing during the national anthem last night. I can’t wait until he retires, he’s been toxic for the entire NBA,” Clay Travis added on X.
“LeBron James practiced his golf swing during the national anthem before the 76ers-Knicks game. Craig Carton called this exact behavior disrespectful last year. ESPN amplified the clips. Still no apology from LeBron,” one fan added.

This is not the first time that this has happened, though.
In fact, LeBron has been caught practicing his golf swing during the U.S. national anthem several times over the past year or so.
LeBron has been getting very into golf.
ESPN captured LeBron’s anthem antics last season
Last season, when LeBron was still with the Lakers, ESPN shared a video of the four-time NBA champion practicing his golf swing while the U.S. national anthem played inside of the arena.
LeBron has said that he’s hoping to change how people view golf, especially in the Black community.
“One of my main goals in not only of playing the game of golf with my friends and we have a great time, we go out there and mess around, but I want to be able to, and my goal is to open doors for kids that look like me growing up in the inner city, to be able to go to country clubs at seven, eight, nine years old and be able to go out and caddy or be able to go out and rent clubs and be able to be coached and play the game of golf,” James said to Boardroom.
Many, though, will continue to take issue with his behavior during the U.S. national anthem.
