Pro Football Focus oversaw mass layoffs after Cris Collinsworth sold its enterprise business in a reported nine-figure deal.

Teamworks announced the acquisition of Pro Football Focus's data and analytics platform on Monday. The move precipitated significant layoffs within the company.

According to Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports, PFF informed employees during a Monday meeting that they would retain only half the staff. Most workers moving to the new company are on the data end, and several content creators confirmed they were let go on social media.

Podcast host Trevor Sikkema, editor John Owning, social media producers Mike Kennedy and Beckett Mesko, and fantasy football analyst Jon Macri were among those to share that PFF fired them.

"Like too many others, today was my last day with PFF," Sikkema wrote on Monday night. "Working in sports is awesome, but it's who you work with that makes a job a dream job. I had a dream job for the last five years. Thank you to anyone and everyone who has supported us."

"Unfortunately, I was a part of the PFF layoffs today," Owning said. "Really enjoyed my time there, where I met and worked with so many kind, hard-working and incredibly talented people. Excited to see what's next. Appreciate y'all."

Founded 20 years ago, PFF rose to prominence behind its player grades. NBC featured them on Sunday Night Football after Collinsworth bought a majority share in 2014.

Collinsworth will remain part of PFF as a Teamworks shareholder. While PFF's consumer business is not part of the acquisition, it could look considerably different following the layoffs.

"Winning football organizations have to excel both in the front office and on the field," Collinsworth said. "Integrating PFF’s trusted game data with Teamworks’ AI-driven operating system gives football executives a single source for performance, game day strategy, personnel strategy, and long-term planning. That level of alignment across coaches, scouting, and executive leadership is not just exciting, but how championship organizations are built."
