LSU Tigers head coach Lane Kiffin accused Ole Miss of breaking SEC rules during Saturday night’s game in Oxford.
Ole Miss topped LSU, 32-24, during the Week 3 showdown in Oxford. Saturday night’s game marked a return to Ole Miss for Kiffin, as he left for the LSU job at the end of the 2025 season. Ole Miss fans did not take kindly to his departure and they welcomed him back with a lot of booing.
But as the environment inside of the stadium was electric, Kiffin believes that Ole Miss might have taken things too far. Kiffin not-so-subtly accused Ole Miss of breaking the SEC’s stadium rules, while speaking to the media this week.

Kiffin believes that his players were put in an unfair situation at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford.
“Those games happen, and a lot of factors go into that,” Kiffin said on Wednesday, talking about the atmosphere at Ole Miss on Saturday night. “We didn’t protect really well around him [quarterback Sam Leavitt]; the crowd noise and music being played all the way through the snap when the center’s hand is on the ball. Again and again.”
SEC rules state that in-stadium music must be stopped before the ball is snapped. Kiffin is accusing Ole Miss of playing the music all the way through the snap, which would be a violation of the SEC’s rules.
There was nothing said about this during ESPN’s broadcast on Saturday night, and fans on social media didn’t seem to notice, at least not in a major way.
Still, it’s clear that LSU’s head coach felt bothered by the in-game atmosphere, going as far to accuse Ole Miss of violating the league’s rules.
A win is a win, though, and Ole Miss remained undefeated on the year with the victory, while LSU suffered its first loss of the season.
