Mohamed Salah confirmed on Tuesday that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season. Landon Donovan wants to see the Egyptian in MLS.
The USMNT legend addressed the topic of Salah's future, alongside Tim Howard in a recent edition of the "Unfiltered Soccer" podcast.
Donovan said, "It's gonna be interesting. Probably his last World Cup, right? They have an interesting group, I guess. It seems on the surface manageable. He's had a bizarre season, but I have a feeling he might want to end his career somewhere other than England and maybe in the US."
"I think that last point is kind of why I have him in the headliners. When he's motivated, Mo, it's a different player altogether. It's been a strange season. He's had, you know, he's had his gripes with Liverpool, and then he's gonna go to AFCON, come back and start sort of trying to find that groove and that rhythm. He has to be a headliner for me," Howard commented, for his part.
Donovan pointed out that any MLS club must be attentive to Salah's situation because he believes the Egyptian can still perform at a high level.
He said, "I could just see, not that people need any extra incentive to want to sign him if you're an MLS club, but I could see owners watching him this summer and be like, oh my God, we need that guy. So it tilts the balance if he's in America and he's flying, you know, he's still got a lot left."

Where Should Mohamed Salah Go Next After Leaving Liverpool? Possible Options Explored
On Tuesday, Salah said through a video statement on Instagram, "Hello, everyone. Unfortunately, the day has come. This is the fairest part of my farewell. I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of this season."
Obviously, there is still no confirmation of which team or league he may go to after leaving Liverpool. But given his status as a legend at the club, it is easier to imagine him in a league like MLS or the Saudi Pro League than in a top European league.
Reports from Sky Sports indicated that Salah is a target for some Saudi clubs, so it's likely that much of the speculation will center on them. The reality is that we will have to wait for greater certainty.
The African winger arrived at Liverpool in 2017 from AS Roma. During his career, he passed through El Mokawloon, Basel, Chelsea, and Fiorentina before signing for the club from the Italian capital.
Since he arrived at the Anfield club, he has played 435 matches, scoring 255 goals and providing 122 assists, according to Transfermarkt.
