In 2025, Lamar Jackson did less running than at any point in his career thus far – and that even takes into account the four games he missed due to injuries. But Jackson believes that his reduced running in 2025 is just a necessary price of doing business.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Jackson said that he’s ready to play however his new coaching staff wants him to play. He said last year due to various injuries he wasn’t as mobile as he was used to.
“I really couldn’t do anything like I wanted to,” Jackson said. “It really wouldn’t put my team in a good position if I was just running hurt — losing yards, things like that would have happened. Whatever it takes to win, that’s what I’m all about. I’ve always been about that too.”

2026 could be a bit of a transition year for the Baltimore Ravens. They’re beginning the season with a new head coach for the first time since 2008. Jackson wasn’t even in high school the last time the Ravens made such a change.
The new coaching staff will be led by head coach Jesse Minter, a longtime defensive coach who previously worked with the team from 2017 to 2020. The offensive coordinator will be Declan Doyle, who is only about a year older than Jackson. The top offensive assistants will be Israel Woolfork and Marcus Brady

Expectations are still going to be pretty high for the Ravens. So long as they have Jackson in his prime, they can compete with just about any team in the league on a weekly basis.
