Bronny James has now played two seasons in the NBA and enters the summer facing the most important offseason of his young career. The Los Angeles Lakers guard appeared in 42 games during the 2025-26 campaign, averaging 2.9 points, 1.2 assists and 0.5 rebounds while shooting 40.9% from the field and 38.6% from three. He also made one start as injuries and rotation changes created additional opportunities for him throughout the year.
The Lakers selected James with the 55th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, pairing him with his father, LeBron James. After spending much of his rookie season moving between the NBA roster and the South Bay Lakers, James gradually played more games in his second year. While he remained primarily a reserve, he logged more minutes in both the NBA and G League as the franchise continued to prioritize his long-term growth.

James enters Year 3 with hopes of finally establishing himself as a consistent rotational player. With two professional seasons behind him and another full offseason ahead, the pressure to take a noticeable step forward is growing.
James offered a glimpse into his preparation for the 2026-27 season on Monday. The 21-year-old shared a photo from inside the Lakers’ training facility on social media, appearing to show himself following a workout session.
Lakers fans will be hoping that this is the season James begins to make a sustained impact at the NBA level. The franchise is entering a pivotal summer, and much of the attention remains centered on his father. James is an unrestricted free agent this summer and has not committed to returning for a 24th NBA season.
LeBron recently said he plans to take his time before making a decision on his future, leaving open the possibility of either a return to Los Angeles, a move elsewhere, or retirement.
