MLS side Los Angeles FC fired head coach Marc Dos Santos today.
This was Dos Santos’ first season as LAFC head coach after serving as an assistant on Steve Cherundolo’s staff from 2022-25. He took over the role after Cherundolo’s exit but has not been able to achieve the results the club wanted.
LAFC currently sits sixth in the Western Conference, and the decision to remove Dos Santos came after a 1-0 loss to FC Dallas, which also resulted in a drop in the standings.
A statement released by the club confirmed the decision.
The statement read:
“LAFC announced today that after careful consideration, the club has made the decision to part ways with head coach Marc Dos Santos.
“Marc has given a great deal to this club over the years, and we are grateful for his commitment, care, and contributions to LAFC,” said President of Soccer Operations John Thorrington. “We wish Marc and his family all the best moving forward.”
Who Will Replace Marc Dos Santos at LAFC?
Currently, there has been no update on the next candidate for the job, but the official statement indicated that the club will provide an update soon, as the search for a new head coach gets underway.

“The club will share an update on its interim coaching plans soon, as we begin the search for a new head coach,” it read.
Previously, the club had ambitions to bring in big names for the head coach role, including Gerardo “Tata” Martino and Ange Postecoglou.
Martino reportedly held advanced talks with LAFC and had a verbal agreement with the club before LAFC ultimately chose Dos Santos.
LAFC had also previously extended a formal offer to Postecoglou during the brief window when he left Tottenham for Nottingham Forest.
