Cameron Brink is in the middle of her third WNBA season, and the Los Angeles Sparks forward is putting together the most productive campaign of her young career. Brink is averaging 9.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists while shooting 49.7% from the field, with her 1.7 blocks per game ranking fourth in the league.
Selected No. 2 overall by Los Angeles in the 2024 WNBA Draft, Brink has already experienced significant adversity, including a torn ACL that ended her rookie season. She has nevertheless been fortunate to share the floor with some of the game’s most accomplished players, including one of the league’s active legends who returned to Los Angeles this season, Nneka Ogwumike.

Ogwumike announced Wednesday that she will retire from the WNBA at the conclusion of the 2026 season, bringing an end to a 15-year career that includes an MVP award, a championship and 11 All-Star selections. The announcement immediately drew reactions from around the league, including from her young Sparks teammate Brink.
Brink responded to Ogwumike’s announcement in the comments of her Instagram post with a heartfelt message: “Love you sooo much ❤️❤️❤️”
Both teammates have expressed their love for one another on several occasions. Ogwumike described Brink as someone she wants to help develop, while Brink has called the veteran a “huge mentor and role model.”
“She’s always been someone that I really look up to,” Brink told The Sporting Tribune in April. “Having her with us this year is surreal. Every day coming into work is such a joy. Her presence is unmatched. We’re very lucky to have her.”
Ogwumike has continued to produce at an impressive level in her final season, averaging 16.9 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 34 games. She is also the Sparks’ all-time leading scorer (6,457 points) and currently ranks fourth in WNBA history in points (7,879) and third in rebounds (3,565).
The Sparks return to action Thursday against Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream at Crypto.com Arena. Los Angeles enters at 12-23 after losing three straight, while Atlanta is coming off a 97-82 win over Las Vegas. Brink is currently listed as out with a rib injury.
