Kyrie Irving Makes Career Announcement Amid NBA Playoffs

The last time Kyrie Irving appeared on the basketball court for the Dallas Mavericks, the team looked drastically different with a roster built around him.

Now that has changed entirely after the team landed Cooper Flagg first overall in the 2025 NBA Draft, shifting the franchise toward a long-term rebuild around the young, emerging superstar.

Dallas ultimately missed the NBA playoffs this season, finishing with a 26-56 record. However, as Irving continues to recover from tearing his ACL in his left knee in preparation for next year, it is hard not to be excited about a potential duo between Irving and Flagg in 2026-27.

As Irving continues to rehab, he has devoted much of his time to the Uncle Drew Circuit, a competitive, elite youth basketball circuit he founded last year. It is a series of tournaments across multiple U.S. cities focused on building players, mindset and a lifelong love for basketball.

Irving truly cares about the next generation and is using his influence to create meaningful opportunities for young athletes.

On Thursday, Irving announced that the Uncle Drew Circuit had officially partnered with ANTA Sports. “It’s official. We’re proud to welcome @antasportsofficial as the footwear partner of the Uncle Drew Circuit. Every player in the circuit will be wearing Anta Kai 3 🤞🪶♾️,” the post read.

The partnership makes sense, as Irving himself is signed with ANTA Sports. He inked a five-year deal with the Chinese sportswear brand in 2023.

As Irving continues to invest into the youth, his focus will eventually shift back toward the upcoming season and his return to the basketball court.

The question is whether he can return to the same level he reached before the injury. Irving is a nine-time All-Star and three-time All-NBA selection through 14 seasons and remains one of the craftiest scorers in the league.

But because he relies so heavily on ball-handling, body control and change-of-pace movement, returning to peak form at 34 years old will be a challenge. Still, if anyone can do it, it is Irving.
