After seven seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, Kyler Murray's time with the team is set to come to an end. The only thing left to determine is whether the Cardinals find a place to trade him to before they simply kick him to the curb.
But Murray isn't looking to burn any bridges on the way out. Quite the opposite.
Taking to X on Tuesday after news that the team intends to release him, Murray thanked everyone in Arizona for supporting him and apologized for failing to deliver a championship to the team. He wished everyone in the community the best and said he looks forward to the next part of his career.
"To everyone that supported me and showed kindness to my family and I during my time in AZ, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. I wanted nothing more than to be the one to end the 77 year drought for this organization, I am sorry I failed us. I wish this community and my brothers nothing but the best. I am no stranger to adversity, I am prepared for whatever’s next. I trust in God and my work ethic. I truly believe my best ball is in front of me and I look forward to proving it. Godspeed," Murray wrote on X.

Murray has been criticized by NFL fans a ton through the years, but you'd scarcely know it from a look at the comments. Seemingly everyone was supportive of him in the wake of that response.
"Respect to Kyler for the effort he put in through a lot of adverse circumstances. He obviously deserves a fair share of criticism for how it didn't work out here and he did not develop into the QB he was supposed to be but I hope he can find a ~much~ better fit to try to untap it," one user remarked on X.
"Thank you 1, wish it worked out different but all the best moving forward," wrote another.
"End of an era. Can’t lie this is very painful. Thank you for all the joy and excitement you brought me man. I’ll be rooting for you wherever you end up next. Good luck," a third wrote.

As a rookie in 2019, Murray showed flashes of brilliance, winning Offensive Rookie of the Year honors. Over the next two seasons he would make back-to-back Pro Bowls and led the Cardinals to the playoffs in 2021.
But Murray's development seemed to plateau after 2021. He regressed in 2022, which ended in the team going 4-13 and head coach Kliff Kingsbury was fired. Jonathan Gannon took over as head coach in 2023 but could not get Murray back to his Pro Bowl level and was himself fired at the end of this past season.
The Cardinals will be led by Mike LaFleur in 2026, but will now need a new starting QB to pair with him.
As for Murray, he now becomes arguably the top QB available this offseason.
