Kurt Angle apologized to fans after health issues forced him to withdraw from his upcoming appearances in the United Kingdom. The WWE and TNA Hall of Famer had been scheduled for events in Manchester, London, and Glasgow over the September 27-29 weekend.
Angle had been booked for a National Wrestling League event in Manchester on September 27 before heading to London and Glasgow for Inside The Ropes appearances on September 28 and 29. On Thursday, both promotions announced that the Olympic gold medalist would no longer make the trip after he was not medically cleared to travel.
“The Wrestling Machine” addressed the change himself in a video message shared by “Inside The Ropes.” He apologized to the fans in London and Glasgow and confirmed that those appearances would not be canceled permanently.
“Hey, this is your Olympic hero. And due to health reasons, I will not be able to attend the Inside the Ropes shows in the UK this weekend. I want to apologize to all the fans in Glasgow and London. I just want to say that the shows will be rescheduled for early February next year. So if you have a valid ticket for this year’s show, you will have a valid ticket for next year’s show. I will see you there. Oh it’s true, it’s damn true.”
The Inside The Ropes events were moved to February 1 and 2, 2027, with the London show taking place on February 1 and the Glasgow appearance following a day later. Tickets from the original dates remained valid for the rescheduled shows.
The Manchester event was handled differently. National Wrestling League said fans who had purchased VIP meet-and-greet packages would receive automatic refunds, while further information about general admission tickets would be provided separately. The promotion also said Angle was upset about missing the event and apologized to the fans who had planned to meet him.
No details about Kurt Angle’s health issue were disclosed beyond the fact that he was unable to receive medical clearance to travel.
Kurt Angle Recently Celebrated 30 Years Since Olympic Gold
The timing came shortly after a significant anniversary in Kurt Angle’s career. July 31 marked 30 years since he won the 220-pound freestyle wrestling gold medal at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, where he defeated Abbas Jadidi in the final.
Angle’s connection to amateur wrestling also continued through his youngest daughter, Nikoletta. She began wrestling as a child, and Angle previously spoke about how much she enjoyed the sport and how her interest led him to become more involved with USA Wrestling.
For now, Angle’s UK appearances have been pushed into February, giving him another opportunity to meet the fans who had been expecting him this weekend. The new dates also give the 57-year-old another chance to continue sharing stories from a career that began with Olympic success and eventually made him one of WWE’s most decorated performers.
