It's been several years since former NFL QB Jay Cutler and entertainer Kristin Cavallari finalized their divorce. But things apparently got extremely ugly in ways that still have Cavallari demanding justice for.
Appearing on the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast, Cavallari asserted that she didn't receive any money from Cutler in their divorce. She claims that she was forced to give Cutler half of the value of her Uncommon James business in cash along with properties and other things.
“I don’t get any money from my ex-husband,” Cavallari said.
“I had to give him half the value of Uncommon James in cash and properties and everything else. Isn’t that interesting.
“I was really (upset) at the time and now I’m so thankful because I think, for me, I’ve needed these things in my life to keep going. And I’ve found that that is an instance where I’m going to fight harder. Those little moments push me and I come out the other side stronger.”
Cutler Addresses the Issue
Cavallari has been claiming that she got nothing from Cutler in the divorce for a while now and Cutler vehemently refuted the allegation last year. During an appearance on the Take it Outside podcast, Cutler called Cavallari's claim "completely false," and said that no judge in Tennessee would have allowed him to keep all of his money without giving anything to her.
“Let’s think about this logically. ‘Not a penny,’ OK. Married for, I don’t know, seven years or so, three kids,” Cutler said at the time. “You can go and see how much I made in the NFL. It’s online. You can see the contract from year to year and the total amount at the end of 12 years. So, you go to divorce and each side gets a lawyer, and then you go to court and there’s a judge.

“In the state of Tennessee, if we would have went to the judge and been like, ‘Hey, he’s going to keep every single dollar over the past seven years and you’re going to get nothing.’
“There’s not a judge in the state of Tennessee that would have signed that. They would be like, ‘No, this isn’t – this isn’t right. This isn’t legal. Not happening.’ So, there’s that. B, she has a lawyer. I have a lawyer. Is her lawyer really going to be like, ‘Fine, you get zero dollars. He gets to keep all the money that was made over the seven years.’ Absolutely not.”
Cavallari has also claimed that she no longer has a 50-50 custody agreement over their three kids (aged 9-13). She has said recently that she has primary custody.
“I have chosen to be the best mom that I could be and be a good business owner and that’s the trade-off. I would love to tell you Uncommon James is a $100 million company and it’s not. But I am the best mom and my kids will tell you that also,” Cavallari said.
Cavallari and Cutler were engaged in 2011, split in 2020 and finalized their divorce in 2022.
