ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit absolutely loves his dog Peter and there’s nothing wrong with that. But many fans have grown a bit tired of him bringing him everywhere. So when fans learned that a Peter-themed store is opening, many were left stunned.
On Saturday, Front Office Sports shared a video of the launch of an official “Peter Fan Club” merchandise store that opened up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana ahead of tonight’s big game between LSU and Clemson. Per the report, it features “Peter-themed apparel.”
“This cannot be real.”
College football fans were stunned (and perhaps mortified) that Herbstreit would go through with opening a store like that. Many wondered how it could possibly hope to make money while others accused Herbstreit of being a narcissist over it.
“This is delusional narcissism on a level I’ve never seen,” one user on X called it.
“This is 1000x worse than anything McAfee has done,” another user declared.
“Is it possible to say something about this without being accused of hating dogs?” a third asked.
“This cannot be real. This has to be one of those fake North Korea cities.”
“I absolutely cannot figure out who this store could possibly be for, outside of Kirk Herbstreit.”

But while there may not be a massive consumer base for the store, Herbstreit is still pumped for it. He released an intro video paying homage to his departed dog Ben and how he wanted to “create something meaningful” to show his love for all of his dogs.
“Ben showed us how far a dog’s joy can travel,” Herbstreit said in the intro video. “We miss him every day. But it’s been incredible to see that same spirit live on through Peter and his brothers. As the love for Peter has grown, we wanted to create something meaningful. Something that will help dogs in need as Peter and I travel around the country this season. Cause I think we all know by now, it’s not just football season, it’s Peter season.”
If Herbstreit is happy with it, then that will have to suffice.
