ESPN's "College GameDay" could have a surprise guest this fall: President Donald J. Trump.
The President of the United States is expected to sign a college sports bill into law in September. President Trump, 80, is expected to sign the bill live on ESPN's "College GameDay." That's what two sitting U.S. Senators are predicting, anyway.
“The Protecting College Sports Act continues to show great momentum. Sens Cruz and Schmitt have worked tirelessly with the support of nearly every conference in the country, HBCUs and the Olympic sports committee. It’s clear that this bill is the only way to save college sports and womens sports,” the statement reads.
“While we are disappointed that we could not get the unanimous consent agreement to finish this week, we locked in a guaranteed vote in September. With the strong support of President Trump, we look forward to him signing the bill on College GameDay in the fall.”

While ESPN has yet to publicly comment on the report, fans are already threatening to boycott the college football pregame show over the rumors.
“If ESPN’s college game day does that I will never watch that show again!” one fan wrote.
“I already stopped watching Gameday. I didn’t need another reason never to watch again. College Sports needs saving largely because of the TV networks,” one fan added.
“Would be a reason to never watch that show again,” one fan added.
But how does Kirk Herbstreit feel about it?
ESPN's college football analyst has made it clear where he stands politically
On Veterans Day 2025, Pat McAfee welcomed President Trump onto his show. He then accused the critics of his interview with Trump of “hate(ing) the troops.”
Herbstreit, meanwhile, made it clear that he stood with McAfee - and loved that he had President Trump on his show.
“And God bless the troops,” McAfee said, to which Herbstreit quickly jumped in to say, “And God bless you for that show you put on Tuesday. One of your best shows you’ve ever had.”
Many took Herbstreit's comments on McAfee's President Trump show as an endorsement of the President of the United States - and it's hard to not see it that way, at least based on what he said live on "College GameDay."
It'll be interesting to see if we get an appearance from President Trump on ESPN's longtime college football pregame show later this year.
