Over his two decades in the NBA, Kevin Durant has earned over $500 million just on salary and is projected to reach over $600 million by the time he calls it a career. But some savvy investing that only cost him about two days salary has reportedly yielded him a massive sum.
According to Front Office Sports, Durant and his business partner Rich Klieman were early investors in the Hugging Face computation tools company, investing $250,000 into the company’s early funding periods. For Durant, who is in the second year of a two-year, $90 million contract with the Houston Rockets, that comes out to just over two days worth of salary for him.
Earlier today, multiple outlets reported that tech titan Nvidia is now slated to buy Hugging Face for $12.9 billion. Durant’s payout for his investment is now believed to be upwards of $60 million.
Not bad for a couple days salary.

Durant’s investment portfolio is a who’s who of massive companies including Postmates, Coinbase, Acorns, Robinhood, DraftKings, Thrive Global and Whoop. His money with many of those companies have multiplied tenfold or more.
Few people in sports history, let alone basketball, can boast as much good use of their money as the 16-time All-Star.

Durant’s fans and even NBA fans who dislike Durant couldn’t help but give the man his props for being such a genius with his money:
“Easy money sniper,” one user on X wrote.
“Kevin Durant is an A+ investor, but unfortunately a C- teammate,” wrote another.
“It’s never mentioned how many great business deals he got into because of his time with the warriors,” a third remarked.
“His investment arm will slowly make him a billionaire,” another predicted.
Only a handful of NBA players have gone on to become billionaires. Durant could very well become the next member of that ultra-exclusive club in just a few years if his investments continue to pay off like this.
