Kevin Durant is well aware of all the debates surrounding the WNBA right now.
There have been plenty of storylines worth applauding this season, such as A’ja Wilson and her continued dominance on the Las Vegas Aces. We also can’t ignore Olivia Miles and her sensational rookie season with the Minnesota Lynx. Once again, Caitlin Clark is playing at a high level and keeping the Indiana Fever in the title conversation.
Unfortunately, the focus hasn’t always been on basketball. During his media availability Tuesday, Durant expressed his frustration with the WNBA and its fans.
“All that stuff is noise, man. WNBA is flourishing,” Durant said. “Look what these women are doing. Look at the money they made over the last few years … The politics they bring into sports nowadays … I do not give a fuck about that.”

The conversation surrounding the WNBA has taken a turn.
A few months ago, Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham caused a huge debate when she criticized transgender athletes participating in women’s sports during an interview with ESPN.
Fast forward to this September, and former ESPN star Cari Champion accused Caitlin Clark’s fan base of being divisive.
“She’s an avatar for middle America,” Champion said. “She brings in this new fan base. What this new fan base does is bring in new business. And the WNBA has needed this new business. So they look the other way when this fan base behaves like MAGA. They look the other way when this fan base is wholly inappropriate to other players who are just doing their way. They look the other way when this fan base reacts to criticism of Caitlin Clark.”
Hopefully, all this unnecessary drama dies down before the start of the playoffs.
