Kenneth Walker III continues to prove that the Kansas City Chiefs made the right decision by signing him to a three-year deal worth $43.05 million during the offseason.
In the Chiefs’ Week 6 game against the Los Angeles Chargers, Walker erupted once again to lead the team to a 22-6 victory. The star running back tallied 19 carries for 128 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Now, through five games with the Chiefs, Walker has recorded a total of 665 rushing yards and six touchdowns on the ground. He also has 95 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns.

Walker has made history in the process, as his total rushing yards so far is the “most in NFL history in a player’s first five games with a team,” per ESPN Insights.
“How is Walker doing it? Yards after contact! He has 369 rushing yards after contact this season! 3 of his top 5 regular season career rush yards after contact have come this season!” ESPN Insights added.
The running game was a major problem for the Chiefs last season, as they were heavily reliant on Mahomes to generate production on the ground. The Kansas City QB finished the season with five rushing TDs, the second-most on the team behind Kareem Hunt’s eight rushing TDs.
The Chiefs finished with a total of 15 rushing scores that campaign. So far this season, the team already has seven.
Walker’s arrival has certainly brought a new dynamic to the Chiefs’ offense, making the unit more dangerous.
It remains to be seen if Walker and the Chiefs can keep the same level of production as the season progresses. Sure enough, though, the team has not shown any indication that it is slowing down anytime soon.
