Chris Jones and the Kansas City Chiefs secured another win against the Los Angeles Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday. The home squad held the visitors to just two field goals, winning 22-6.
The four-time Super Bowl champions remain undefeated, improving to 5-0 to start the 2026 NFL season. Kansas City sacked Los Angeles quarterback Justin Herbert four times and held the Chargers without a touchdown.
However, Jones now faces potential NFL punishment for a contentious fourth-quarter incident. With 1:28 remaining, Jones’s arm made contact with Herbert’s head/neck area on fourth-and-22. The Chargers QB completed a 14-yard pass to Theo Wease before the penalty was enforced.
Jones was flagged for roughing the passer, and the half-the-distance penalty moved Los Angeles to Kansas City’s 13-yard line with a fresh set of downs.
Despite the Chiefs’ dominant win, Jones will have to wait to see whether the league will fine him.
Rule 12, Section 2, Article 11 of the 2026 NFL rulebook defines roughing the passer as “any physical acts against a player who is in a passing posture (i.e. before, during, or after attempting a pass) which, in the game official’s judgment, are unwarranted by the circumstances of the play.”
The 2026 NFL fines schedule lists a $17,911 fine for a first roughing-the-passer offense and $23,882 for a second.
The Chargers will look to get their first win of the season when they face the Los Angeles Rams. The two Los Angeles teams will face off at SoFi Stadium on Nov. 1.
The Chiefs, on the other hand, will travel to Lumen Field to face the defending champions, the Seattle Seahawks, on Sunday.
