The Kansas City Chiefs reached injury settlements with quarterback Chris Oladokun, offensive lineman C.J. Hanson and running back E.J. Smith on Friday. They were released from the Reserve/Injured list.
The players will be free to sign with other teams, but there is a mandatory waiting period before they can re-sign with the Chiefs.
The amount of time is the length of the injury settlement, which compensates players for the expected amount of time missed plus an additional three weeks. The Chiefs also signed tight end Thomas Odukoya to the practice squad with an international player exemption.
Oladokun started two games for the Chiefs last season but was beaten out by seventh-round pick Garrett Nussmeier, who will serve as the third quarterback. Oladokun played in two of the three preseason games before missing the final game due to the undisclosed injury.
Odukoya, 29, is a 6-foot-6, 253-pound tight end from Amsterdam. He has spent time with the Tennessee Titans and New England Patriots. He spent three years at Eastern Michigan and caught 13 passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns as a senior in 2021. He earned third-team All-MAC honors that season.

The Chiefs have four tight ends on their active roster, and Odukoya will provide depth at the position. The Chiefs begin their season on Monday Night Football against the Denver Broncos Sept. 14.
