The Kansas City Chiefs used a fifth-round pick on wide receiver Cyrus Allen out of Cincinnati. Allen has been the talk of training camp and one of the bigger stories around the league. An article on ESPN called Allen the buzziest Day 3 pick of the draft in training camp.
Allen made his debut in the first preseason game Saturday against the Los Angeles Rams. He wasted no time making a highlight play. With less than two minutes to go in the first half, Allen climbed the ladder and made a leaping grab for a 13-yard gain and a first down from fellow rookie quarterback Garrett Nussmeier. It wasn't a crisply thrown ball, and it could have put Allen in a defenseless situation, but he still made the grab.
The Chiefs' offense didn't take a lot of shots and really worked on the run game and the screen game. Allen did have five targets and caught two of them for 20 yards. It was an impressive debut for Allen, who is projected to be the team's fourth receiver, and he could push Tyquan Thornton for the third receiver spot.
