The annual Red Thursday tradition of the Kansas City Chiefs has raised $1 million this year for Ronald McDonald House Kansas City.
Several members of the Chiefs Community Caring Team, including Kansas City running back Kenneth Walker III and wide receiver Jalen Royals, visited the Ronald McDonald House. They held several Halloween-themed activities before announcing the final donation total.
Most donations came from limited-edition flag sales and the Hunt Family Foundation 50/50 Raffle during the Chiefs’ season-opening game against the Denver Broncos on Sept. 14.
The team announced the news on X.
“You outdid yourselves again, Chiefs Kingdom! This Red Thursday, we received $1 million for @rmh_kc to help keep families together when it matters most ♥️,” the post’s caption read.
The Red Thursday tradition began in 1992, when Chiefs founder Lamar Hunt and the Chiefs Red Coaters. They have donated approximately $10 million to various local charities that mainly support children in need.
As for their football, the Chiefs have remained undefeated in five games.
They have wins over the Broncos (31-10 in Week 1), the Indianapolis Colts (33-30 in Week 2), the Miami Dolphins (24-10 in Week 3), the Las Vegas Raiders (30-27 in Week 4) and the Los Angeles Chargers (22-6 in Week 6).
Now they prepare for a marquee Week 7 matchup against the defending champions, the Seattle Seahawks, who are 3-3. The Chiefs will head to Lumen Field on Sunday, with kickoff scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC.
