Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyquan Thornton suffered a severe ankle injury in the fourth quarter of the Chiefs’ 30-27 win against the Las Vegas Raiders Sunday. The Chiefs lost top wide out Rashee Rice on the second drive of the game to a left hamstring injury, and he didn’t return.
Thornton went on to have a career game with five catches for 111 yards and two touchdowns. Thornton was injured on a 55-yard catch and run that put the Chiefs in position to regain the lead in the fourth quarter. Thornton was carted off, and he is likely done for the season as his ankle was turned the wrong way.
With two receivers injured in the game, the Chiefs will turn to a combination of Jalen Royals and Cyrus Allen. Xavier Worthy had his best game of the season in Week 4 with four catches for 70 yards. If Rice is forced to miss time, he’ll serve as the top wide receiver. The Chiefs have a bye in Week 5 and sit alone atop the AFC West at 4-0.
