Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks saw their season come to an end in the second round of the NCAA Tournament after a heartbreaking loss to St. John's Red Storm.
Self, 63, has been coaching in the college basketball ranks for 33 years, and was reportedly considering walking away from coaching following the conclusion of this season. The Jayhawks head coach has dealt with health issues over the past few years, and revealed after the team's loss that he needed time to think about his future.
Much to the approval of Kansas and college basketball fans, Self has decided to stay in Lawrence to coach, as confirmed in a statement released by the team on X.
"He's not going anywhere," wrote the Kansas social media team.
As seen in the post, a statement from Self was also included.
"With renewed clarity and the ongoing support from our administration, I remain focused and committed to Kansas Basketball competing for a National Championship," wrote Self.

Self's postgame comments certainly caught attention around the sport considering he is one of the pillars of college basketball.
"I'll get back and visit with family," Self said via ESPN after Kansas' St. John's loss. "I've had, obviously, some issues off the court healthwise. And that will be discussed. But I love what I do. I want to feel good while I'm doing it, though."
Self has been pacing the sidelines at Allen Fieldhouse since the 2003-04 season, and has won two NCAA Tournament Championships. He has also made four Final Four appearances, won 17 regular-season Big 12 titles and nine Big 12 Tournament championships.
Self will return to Kansas to coach a No. 3-ranked 2026 recruiting class headlined by five-star Taylen Kinney. He will also have to attack the NCAA transfer portal soon, as it opens on April 7.
